What is the EvPAK Personal? It is a combination of paper and plastic packaging for any CD or DVD project. It is a pre-formed, perforated sheet that can be printed directly using any inkjet or color laser printer. Once printed, you tear around the perforations; exposing the form, fold it and insert the tray insert with disc. “It’s very simple and fast to do,” says Jun Flores, president of ACE. “We removed over 50% of the plastic from the tray insert,” says Flores, “and we enclosed this insert with a heavy-duty paperboard form. It’s green since it uses less plastic. You produce only what you need, and therefore it’s economical to use. ”
The EvPAK Personal rivals the Digi-Pak in its high-end look yet at a fraction of it’s cost. The production minimum to run a project using Digi-Pak is around 500 units. “Why package 500 units when 25 to 50 units would do? Devote the rest of your budget to promote your event or add to your merchandising to include T-shirts and posters. Add another revenue stream to your event,” says Flores.
The music industry has had a huge paradigm shift. Before the concert supported the albums you sold. Acts would use their concerts to help drive album sales. With music becoming a la carte; picking and choosing the songs you want digitally through iTunes or Amazon, music sales has taken a back seat to concerts. Now Concerts are the driving economic force for acts and albums have become part of the merchandising just like selling a T-shirt.
“For some time, we have seen the trend of music talent becoming more vertically integrated. They do everything from self promotion and marketing to merchandising in addition to playing music,” says Flores. The profit structure has changed where music sales is a smaller and smaller portion of the total sales. Instead, events combined with proper merchandising of the event are the real cash generator. With the EvPAK Personal music talent can now devote more of their budget to promoting their act, diversifying the type of goods they sell at each event and improving their chances of really making the event profitable instead of locking that money into inventory.
Music has always been an impulse sale. Having music sold at your event makes sense. The attendees hear the music. If it’s good they will buy it. “The key though,” says Flores, “is satisfy the impulse and have your product available. A lost sale is no sale. That is the strength of our EvPAK Personal model.” Vertically integrated music talent can devote more of their budget to promoting an event to make it a success while keeping its initial cash outlay for merchandise to a minimum. “Be aggressive with the marketing of your event while still keeping tight reins on other expenses such as pressing your CD’s,” Flores says. “The Music Industry has changed, we bring back the impulse sale to an act’s event that is cost effective.”

Original EvPAKs are blank pre-cut versions and they are packaged in lots of 50 pieces. These pre-cut versions – the Presentation Case, O-Card, and Mailer come in plain white paperboard. All that has to be done is simply fold the paperboard, assemble the tray insert with disc, place the assembled tray into the paperboard form and the project is done. You can use decals or labels to add your own personal flair to the EvPAK Original.
